Midwest Epicor Users Group Meeting 1.23.2020

Midwest Epicor Users Group

MEUG Meeting Recap

Cold, wet weather didn’t stop Epicor users from attending our first Midwest Epicor Users Group meeting of the decade. The MEUG is a group of Epicor users who get together every quarter in St. Louis to share ERP tips, ask questions and watch insightful presentations and demonstrations. The meetings can also be attended virtually.

We kicked off Q1 with Datix Chief Technology Officer Mark Chinsky’s presentation on using OData in Excel. OData, or Open Data Protocol, is a REST-based protocol for querying data. OData simplifies access to Epicor BAQs and is useful for tactical reporting. You can watch a demo to learn how to use OData with Excel or Power BI here

Mark followed up his OData demonstration with an overview of Epicor Mobile Warehouse. The Epicor Mobile Warehouse replaces Epicor’s older mobile solution, which required extensive user training and outdated technology. The new solution doesn’t rely on legacy hardware and provides warehouse workers with a rich user interface. Epicor Mobile Warehouse is compatible with rugged handheld scanners as well as Android devices, which use cameras to capture information from barcodes.

As Mark demonstrated, information scanned in Epicor Mobile Warehouse is automatically transferred into the ERP platform. A customizable menu structure and personalized favorites screen also enable users to access anything involving the pick, pack and ship process in the palm of their hands. This cost-effective solution maximizes warehouse efficiency and visibility.

The morning ended with a presentation from our special guest Joe Jasper (pictured above), VP Americas Support at Epicor. Joe has been with Epicor for 31 years and has seen the company make major improvements to their software and support services over that time. He explained some of the features of EpicCare as well as Epicor’s software support life cycle. He emphasized the importance of keeping your ERP solution current in order to receive active support. The meeting also gave users the opportunity to provide feedback on the support process directly to someone from Epicor.

From receiving technical knowledge to sharing their thoughts with Epicor leaders and consultants, MEUG attendees gain valuable insights and opportunities at our meetings. If you’re interested in making the most of your Epicor solution, subscribe to the Midwest Epicor Users Group today!
